HOME Exclusive: Senator McCain may reveal a plan to increase security and keep illegals occupied while visiting our country. 9-19-07 Our sources in Washington indicate that Senator McCain is working feverishly to improve the DREAM act in an effort to get more Democrats to vote in favor of the bill. Supposedly the senator is working on an op-ed piece and is shopping it around to the local papers for publication on Sunday. We have what may be an early draft of McCain’s article. It is copied below. The important and necessary legislation now being considered in the senate is crucial to strengthening our nations borders and our security. I have worked over the years to bring the many migrants living in America out from behind the shadows. That is why I am supporting the DREAM act now being debated. In fact I am working with Congressman Flake to improve on the DREAM act and the companion version in the house being sponsored by Flake titled the STRIVE act. My new proposal, in conjunction with Flake, will extend the upper age limit of the DREAM act to 28. Flake and I are proposing that all migrants be enrolled, free of charge, in at least 6 credit hours of college level or higher courses. We are calling the new bill the Spend High Amounts for Them act, SHAFT for short. Flake and I have also come up with a plan, in consultation with Senator’s Kennedy and Durbin, to house and feed our migrant friends from the south, free of charge. The GAO has assured me and my fellow senators that our pensions will not be affected. We are still waiting to hear what the impact to the Social Security system will be. To further increase security Senator Lieberman and I will be re-introducing our proposal to restrict the transfer of firearms. Our new law will put in place a federal database for all firearms manufactured after 1905 and track their location at all times. Any citizen caught with an unauthorized weapon will immediately start serving a 10-year federal prison sentence. Any migrant caught with an unregistered firearm will be released on bail for an amount no more than $50 and ordered to appear in court in 45 days. I am further working closely with Senator Kyl to fund and construct a total of 50 miles of 7-wire stand fencing along our border with Mexico. This fence will be placed in areas that currently have no marker of the border at this time. This new barbwire fence will make major strides toward keeping hunters from unintentionally wandering into Mexico. Senator Kyl and I worked very hard to convince Secretary Chertoff to go along with this major step in demarcating our common territory with our friends from Mexico. I hope that we can move forward together as one continent and one people with our brother and sisters from the south. Again, thank you for your patience while we integrate a large third world population into our nation. Studies indicate that within 15 to 25 years most of the major issues will be resolved. These same studies also indicate by that time we will all be speaking Chinese anyway so, my friend, there is very little to be concerned about. Sincerely, Don Juan McCain. |
